True Rules

These are ten "true rules" in my life that don't ever seem to change:

* My kids are my top priority.
* My relationship with Andy is also a top priority.
* My dad is always right.  (Okay, maybe 95% of the time...)
* I like books more than I like people.
* Manners matter.
* Be prepared.
* If you love it, buy it.
* God is good, all the time.
* You do better when you know better.
* (and to take one from Gretchen:) Days are long, years are short.

Since I will begin my actual project in July, I'm brainstorming ideas to work on for each month.  These are what I've come up with so far:
*Be more positive
*Clear the clutter
*Be decisive!
*Embrace who I am

Happiness Project

So after reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, I've decided to do my own.  After I read the book, I realized that using a blog to record my own happiness project (among other things...) would be a great way to keep track of positive things in my life and make changes in small ways. I wanted to launch my blog and happiness project with some kind of memorable event, so what better time than my birthday? I'll officially be 39 years old on July 3rd so it works out well. Until then, I'll keep track of my preparations.

Welcome!

Welcome to my personal blog.  "The everyday stylist" title came into being after I really thought about my philosophy on life:  If we're going to live in a crazy world, we may as well look good while we're doing it!  This sometimes sounds a bit shallow to me, but it is meant with dignity and grace.  I have a unique background in the sense that I was trained to be one thing, and at heart, I'm another.  I was trained to be a classical pianist, which I am and have never had a regret about.  But at heart, I really love to design and style things, whether it be my self, my home, or my life!  On top of that, I actually enjoy both aspects of my life and thank God for blessing me.  As I've gotten older, I've been able to sort through the things that work for me and the things that don't.  This blog will be a reflection of me being me.
